The main jet only sets the mixture at wide open throttle, so as you cruise around at 45 mph it is not an issue . The cruise range mixture is set by the needle jet although the pilot jets add to the mixture at all speeds so enrichening the idle will have a small effect on midrange mixture. The easiest way to enrich midrange mixture is to raise the float highth slightly as this will make the fuel easier to "pull up" thus creating a slightly richer mix. Mikuni states that you can run a carb with NO main jet in at all and it will run fine untill you hit wide open throttle. Bear in mind that this carb is actually vacum controlled by the rubber diaghram and wide open in the carb may not coresond to wide open on the twist grip.
